Computer keyboard tray, does it helps to prevent strain problem on your hands? First of all, let me tell you what is computer tray before you decide to get one.

What is Computer Keyboard Tray?

Picture shown below is an example of computer tray which can host a full computer keyboard and a mouse pad on it, and usually computer keyboard tray is attached to a desk. Computer keyboard tray also know as keyboard platforms, another name that might recall memory about it.

Do Computer Keyboard Tray Helps to Prevent Strain?

Computer keyboard tray is definitely designed to save space in your office. Instead of having the full keyboard occupying the a big portion of your desk, you can slide the keyboard in and out underneath your desk with help of the keyboard track. However, because the tray is installed underneath the desk, the problem is oftenly you have to lower hands down below the desk so that you can type the keyboard on the tray. If you do type a lot, having to type on your computer keyboard hosted on computer keyboard tray would actually hurt your hands because you are not able to sit in ergonomic position although you might have one of the ergonomic computer keyboards in the market. Hence, our advice is to stay away from computer keyboard tray if you type a lot. Please get a bigger desk so that you can have a space for your computer keyboard.

Why we should pay about 100 dollars for a keyboard if we can a keyword that has almost the keys that worth only 15 dollars? This question always comes to our mind when we want to purchase a new keyboard. The answer that we are looking for is all about fixing our poor typing posture with better ergonomic design. This is the same case for Microsoft’s Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 which is specially designed to cure our hazardous habit – poor typing posture, which can wreak havoc on our wrists.

When I first review and use the Microsoft’s Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000, I just didn’t feel comfortable with this Microsoft keyboard because of its unconventional design. Nevertheless, after a day or two, I start to appreciate the design of the Microsoft’s Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 as I don’t feel much pain on my wrist as I used to have when I use my regular computer keyboard. Besides less pain, the well-padded palm rest that comes with the Keyboard 4000 made me feel more comfortable on my hands after long hours of typing.

The Microsoft Keyboard 4000 attempts to correct our hand positioning in several ways.

First, the keys on the keyboard are laid out in a curve with center keys that are proportionately oversize to compensate for how often you use them. A 14 degree gable separates the two groups of keys, which is complemented by the curved key bed and 7-degree wrist rest. The gable design of the Microsoft Keyboard 4000 allows us to position our forefingers higher than our little fingers, so our wrists adopt a more ergonomic position.

Besides great ergonomic design, the Microsoft’s Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 also has five programmable favorites keys for launching applications that you want, a convenient zoom slider button and forward & backward keys for you to go back and forward when your browse internet. All these special keys on the Microsoft Keyboard 4000 makes you do less mousing.

One thing that I want to point out clearly is the Microsoft’s Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 only supports USB port, NOT P/S 2 port. So, if you are thinking of getting yourself a 4000 keyboard, please be ready to sacrifice one of your USB port.

Features and Specifications of Microsoft Keyboard 4000
